Rooting is nothing but a process of gaining “superuser” access or “Admin Access” or “Root access” permission to your android device. By factory default android phones have restriction on its hardware and software and we can use limited features. To overcome these restrictions and to gain complete access on your smartphone, we have to “root” our android device. Without superuser access, you are running your device as a guest user.
Ex. Like within in as computer system, there is a option of limited account. In that limited account there may be some functions and softwares that
are not allowed to access without admin’s permission i.e. you don’t have admin rights. Same happens with android phones.
So if you want to full access control to your android device then you have to root it. You can do whatever you want to do with your phone. Here is a short list of problems occurs if your device is not rooted:
- Performance low.
- Not enough memory space to install apps(most common problem) .
- Ads while playing games, watching videos, using app etc.
- Cannot speedup your processor.
- Unable to install themes.
- And many more....
So Why To Root Your Phone?
Perhaps the first basic question you should ask. Here is small list on why to root and all these are advantages of rooting also...
- Unlock hidden features and install incompatible apps .
- Speed up you processor and extend battery life.
- Block ads in any app.
- Remove bloatwares i.e. pre-installed apps. This is very annoying when the extra system are installed which is of no use and you unable to remove it.
- Perform various tweaks like status bar, notification panel, themes and more to customize your phone according to you.
- Change your custom “kernel” which is responsible for communication with the hardware of your phone. This improves performance and gives extra features.
- Complete backup of your android phone, so you just don't need to be worried about your data further.
- Flash a “Custom ROM”, a ROM is basically factory OS installed in your device when you first bought it. But installing a custom ROM that truly changes your entire device and increase performance to great extent.
- Custom ROM's are able to change device version. Suppose your device is running on Android 2.3.x and it was unable to upgrade to higher version then installing a custom ROM could overcome this problem. If a Custom ROM is available for your device then it is upgradable to higher android version and obviously with more features.
- You can apply themes, changes default andoid fonts, add additional feature, tweaks with various functions etc. After rooting your phone.
Disadvantages(
with solution included):
As my own experiences rooting doesn't effect your device and something like side effect. But here are some points that needs to be consider before you are going to perform rooting.
As my own experiences rooting doesn't effect your device and something like side effect. But here are some points that needs to be consider before you are going to perform rooting.
1. Voids Warranty: Yes rooting your phone voids warranty i.e. you now your phone is no longer in warranty period. So do at your own risk.
Solution: You can simply unroot your device whenever you want and don't need much time for this.
2. Risk of “Bricked Phone” : while performing rooting there is 5% chances that you can brick your phone. Bricking means something goes wrong and your devices is not starting up or just performing "bootloop" again and again.
Solution: I have rooted many phones successfully without any bricking condition. All you need is to first read the rooting guide carefully for your phones because different phone have different rooting methods.
· 3. Viruses: If you are installing or downloading apps from unknown sources, it may contain viruses. Whenever you changes your custom ROM, there is a risk that you are putting virus and damaging your phone.
Solution: I think that this problem is nothing to consider, always install and download the apps from trusted sources like from google playstore. Avoid third party installation.
